Why El Salvador Produces Some of the World’s Most Balanced Coffees
Every coffee-growing country has its signature style. Ethiopia often delivers floral complexity. Indonesia is known for earthy richness. Colombia produces dependable sweetness. El Salvador has earned its reputation for something different: balance. Our July Featured Coffee, El Salvador Las Lomas, is a perfect example of why this small Central American country continues to produce some of the world’s most enjoyable coffees.
A Family Legacy. Las Lomas has been farmed by the Alvarez family since 1957. Over decades, they’ve refined their farming practices while maintaining a commitment to quality over quantity. Coffee grows beneath shade trees that protect the ecosystem while allowing cherries to mature slowly, producing more developed sugars and a sweeter final cup.
Why Washed Coffee Matters: Las Lomas uses the washed process. After harvest, the fruit is removed from the coffee seed before drying. This method highlights the coffee’s natural character with exceptional clarity, allowing delicate citrus notes, sweetness, and clean acidity to shine through.
What You’ll Taste: Every coffee tells a story through flavor. With Las Lomas, that story begins with bright tangerine. As the cup cools, toasted walnut adds warmth and structure before finishing with a smooth honey sweetness that lingers pleasantly. It’s complex enough to appreciate yet approachable enough to become your daily coffee.
Brewing Suggestions: This coffee excels in nearly every brewing method. A traditional drip brewer produces a smooth everyday cup. A pour over emphasizes its citrus brightness and sweetness. A French press highlights its round body and nutty finish.
Why We Chose It: At Common Good Coffee, we believe great coffee brings people together.
Each month we search for coffees that honor the work of the producers while giving our community something memorable to enjoy.
El Salvador Las Lomas embodies that mission. It’s a coffee rooted in generations of craftsmanship, carefully roasted to showcase everything that makes El Salvador one of the world’s great coffee origins.
If you’re looking for a coffee that’s bright without being sharp, sweet without being overpowering, and memorable without being complicated, this month’s feature is for you. Grab a bag here.
